Kiteboarding (also called kitesurfing) uses a large power kite to pull you across the water on a board. It’s fast, exhilarating, and one of the most rewarding sports you’ll ever learn. Once you feel the kite power up and your board start to plane, you’ll be hooked.
Whether you call it kiteboarding or kitesurfing, the Central Coast and Lake Macquarie are two of the best places in NSW to learn, with reliable winds, flat-water spots for beginners, and open stretches for more advanced riding.
Our beginner kiteboarding lessons take you through everything from the ground up. You'll start with kite theory and safety, then move to flying a trainer kite on the beach before progressing into the water. By the end of your first few lessons, you'll be body dragging and working towards your first board start.
Already flying the kite and ready to ride? Intermediate kiteboard lessons focus on board starts, riding upwind, and building consistency. This is where freedom really kicks in. Once you can ride upwind, the whole ocean opens up.
Ready to push it further? Our advanced hydrofoil coaching covers downwind runs, open-ocean foiling, tighter turns, linking pumps, and discipline-specific technique depending on your preferred style of foiling.
Cost: $250 for a 2 hour lesson
Kite, board, harness, wetsuit, helmet and impact vest. Everything you need, ready to go.
Our coaches hold KA accreditation, so you're learning safely, correctly, and progressing at the right pace. Our instructors use a wireless bluetooth communications system which allows the coach to instantly train and provide feedback to students.

“Took my two teenage boys for a kiteboarding lesson as a birthday surprise. They haven’t stopped talking about it. The instructor was patient, professional, and genuinely stoked to be out there teaching.
We’ll be back for wingfoiling next.” – Sarah
“I booked a lesson pack with Barnzey and went from never flying a kite to riding solo and now working toward my first trick. Alex was patient, energetic, and enthusiastic, which made the whole learning experience so much fun.” – Charlotte
There’s a reason kiteboarding changes people. The combination of wind, water and adrenaline creates a feeling that’s hard to find anywhere else. It’s physically engaging, mentally absorbing, and the progression never stops. There’s always a new trick, a bigger jump, or a new spot to explore.
Kiteboarding is also more accessible than most people think. You don’t need to be super fit or have a background in board sports. With proper instruction, most people are riding within a handful of lessons.
The Central Coast offers open ocean beaches with consistent sea breezes, while Lake Macquarie provides calm, flat water that’s ideal for beginners learning to kiteboard. Between the two, you get conditions to suit every level, every day.
